Overall Job Purpose

Provide technical leadership and excellent service in execution of Business Services & Outsourcing (BSO) services to clients by planning and consulting on client engagements and ensure implementation of the organizational/ departmental strategic objectives in line with the firm’s compliance requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

Business Development, Practice Management and Compliance

  • Research and identification of new business opportunities
  • Draft competitive proposals
  • Conduct pre-engagement meetings with potential clients
  • Draft competitive letters of engagement
  • Lead new client on-boarding and existing client re-acceptance procedures
  • Prepare annual revenue projections per engagement
  • Allocate engagements to team members
  • Review and approve timesheets to ensure assignments are completed within budgeted hours
  • Prepare and review clients’ monthly/ yearly management accounts
  • Payroll processing and reviews
  • File and review payroll statutory payments
  • Client Treasury management

Client Relationship Management and Engagement

  • Understand specific client business needs and continuously communicate with clients in providing a complete solution of accounting, bookkeeping, treasury and payroll processing services
  • Formulate client service plans to maximise net revenues through a combination of services
  • Anticipate, negotiate and resolve engagement-related business problems on deliverables, timing, fees, etc.
  • Gauge client satisfaction and align necessary changes in services offered to increase client satisfaction
  • Manage a variety of viewpoints (e.g., manage conflicts, tension, stress) effectively to create win-win solutions where possible
  • Generate new solutions or methods to solve complex business problems (size, scope, difficulty, or multidisciplinary solution where appropriate) that set the standards as best practices

Team Leadership & Operational Support

  • Review the strength and capacity of the team and make recommendations in consultation with the Director in relation to talent acquisition, capacity building and employee relationship aspects
  • Raise requisitions with the Director and HR for when filling vacant position or when the number of engagements increase
  • Organize and facilitate internal departmental trainings with respect to identified gaps and business needs 
  • Appraise the team’s performance
  • Ensure the team is kept abreast of developments in the department 
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct training to develop and maintain competence of the team
  • Any other tasks reasonably assigned by the management from time to time and within the required skill set

Skills and Competencies/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related qualification
  • Professional qualifications in Accounting (CA, CPA-K or ACCA)
  • Five to seven (5 to 7) years of post-qualification experience
  • Practical knowledge of accounting standards
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Excellent knowledge of tax laws
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Experience relating with corporate executives
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Team leadership in managing varied client portfolios
  • Integrity, self-drive, pro-activeness, and diligence
  • Well versed with various accounting software and applications used by different industry sectors and comfortable in a computerized environment
