We are looking for a Senior Associate to provide support in our Business Services & Outsourcing department.

The Job description 

The Senior Associate will be responsible for a portfolio of clients who have entrusted BDO to manage all or portions of their financial affairs. BDO is seeking an ambitious, forward thinking high achiever to join our team in providing exceptional client services which exceed client expectations.

The specific roles are highlighted below:  

  • You will execute the necessary bookkeeping tasks, such as data entry, reconciling accounts, as well as preparing accounting reports and facts in accordance with enacted processes and guidelines
  • You will prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with relevant guidelines and laws, for example IFRS, GAAP, among others.
  • Evaluate and update information and carry out validation of data for accuracy 
  • You will ensure proper review of accounts for appropriate supervision of transactions, and for suitable placement to designated areas 
  • You will prepare   client   management   accounts   in   a   timely   manner   including   bank reconciliations and debtor and creditor schedules.
  • You will ensure monthly assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/partner /principal informed of overruns. 
  • You will ensure that the Firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to including the necessary reviews and risk management procedures. 
  •  You will prepare reports, documentation, and correspondences with guidance of the Supervisor.
  • You will keep up to date with the latest accounting, auditing, and tax developments. 
  • You will consult with superiors on issues identified and provide researched information and reports.
  • You will identify statutory and regulatory changes that will affect own clients.
  • You will review management letter points of junior staff and drafts letters with minimum supervision.
  • You will demonstrate a good understanding of the Firm's audit, accounting and tax approach and can assist junior staff in understanding the theory behind the approach. 
  • You will carry out ad hoc requirements as may be reasonably required by the line Supervisor. 
  • You will take responsibility for all client matters as assigned by the Manager. 
  • You will actively adhere to budget and time pressures, bringing matters to the attention of the Manager in a timely manner.
  • You will ensure that your work is performed within the confines of the firm’s risk and operating procedures.
  • You will establish close working relationship with clients; understands the main issues & provide corrective solutions.
  • You will maintain regular contact with Audit and Tax staff during the assignment. 
  • You will draw up plans and timetables for assignments.
  • You will monitor own and team performance against time allocations and reports difficulties.
  • You will act as supervisor on assignments.
  • You will produce a largely complete ‘end-product’ with a list of outstanding issues to be addressed at a clearance meeting.
  • You will be expected to multitask, handle several assignments at the same time.

  • You will ensure professional standards are met. 

Desired Qualifications, skills and attributes

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognized university.
  • Attainment of a professional accounting qualification (Completed Level II).
  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience working in either accounting, business outsourcing, payroll and fund management. 

Competences:

  • Must demonstrate strong team playing skills in all client and internal management dealings.
  • Develop a professional relationship with the client and within BDO, 
  • Provide an efficient and pro-active service to the client and its internal management to ensure that their needs are fully met, 
  • Willing and open to take on tasks and challenges provided by the Manager. 
  • Be committed and motivated to completing a professional accounting qualification.
  • Be able to deliver first class client service and work effectively as part of a team, 
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, 
  • Be well organized and can prioritize your own workload, 
  • Have a high level of general commercial awareness.
